Four Times in the BBC Introducing Live Lounge
There are moments in an artist's journey you don't forget, and walking into the BBC Introducing Live Lounge is one of them. I've now had the honour of doing it four times, and I'm still not over it.
Where it started
BBC Introducing has backed my music from early on, and that continued support has meant everything. Having a platform that champions emerging artists, and gives them space to be heard properly, is what keeps independent music alive. The Live Lounge is where those tracks come off the screen and into the room.
Reopening the doors
One of the proudest moments so far was in 2022, when the BBC invited me to reopen the Introducing Live Lounge after two and a half years of covid closure. Being trusted with that is something I'll carry with me for a long time.
Why live matters
My music moves between raw, honest rap, raspy soul-led melodies, smooth RnB, and heavy electronic synths with pounding drums. On record you can hear the range, but in the Live Lounge you can feel it. There's no hiding, and that's what I love about it. BBC Introducing host Melita Dennett once said "you just never know what he's going to do next", and I try to keep that spirit alive every time I step up to the mic.
Gotcha 'Til Then
It was a big moment when BBC Introducing picked my Old School Hip Hop/Soul track "Gotcha 'Til Then" as their Track Of The Day. If you haven't heard it yet, you can watch it here:
What's next
New releases are on the way, and I can't wait to share them. To hear them first, join the club on the homepage and keep an eye on the tour page for upcoming shows.
Huge thanks to Melita Dennett and BBC Introducing, to everyone who has listened, shared and turned up. Four times in, and I'm just getting started.
